Tips...

The following are resources I have found to be beneficial in performing maintenance to keep my Mule running relialibily. Some of these are simple reminders of the proper way to do certain things, some are more advanced. You may find some of them useful.

Spark Plug Gaskets, Oil Drain Plug Gasket, Cylinder Head Spacers

NOTE:

Do NOT reuse crushable spark plug gaskets.

Whenever you remove spark plugs, you should make sure to replace/recondition the gaskets. If you use crushable gaskets, YOU MUST REPLACE THEM. If you use solid copper gaskets, they should be annealed before reuse. The same applies to cooper oil drain plug gaskets and copper cylinder head spacers. The annealing process is simple and quick and will ensure spark plugs seal correctly. The video below shows how to anneal the gaskets. I use Military Specification MS17840-1 Spark Plug Gaskets which are reusable and I use this annealing process whenever I take the spark plugs out. Same applies to my oil drain plug copper gasket.

Bearing Inspection and Packing

Everyone knows how to clean, inspect and pack bearings right? Well there is an ok way and a better way. The video below is really clear and covers the do's and dont's and worth watching once.
